2004 Events
Sheltara Digest Fundraiser
Check out our little publication 2004 Sheltara Digest: News, Mews and More.
We appreciate the submissions from our supporters.
Sheltara couldn't have done it without you.
A printed and bound copy of Sheltara Digest is our gift to you with contributions of $20 or more.
These funds are used to pay our monthly vet bills.
You can also download a copy in Microsoft Word format.
WARNING: This is a very large download (3 Mb).
Thank you!
P.S. The winner of the gift booklet raffle was Noreen Craig.
Holiday Wrap Fundraiser
Again this year, Sheltara volunteers manned the gift wrap table at Borders Bookstore
in Braintree. We appreciate all those who volunteered and donated.
Thank You Petsmart
Petsmart stores in Brockton and Plymouth have offered Sheltara the use of their
facilities to showcase the cats we have available for adoption.
In addition, Sheltara has use of permanent cages at the Petsmart in Plymouth.
Drop by and visit.
Mercy for Cats
The Mercy For Cats shelter that was allowing Sheltara Humane to use their
facilities as our shelter has officially closed. Many thanks to the owner
and volunteers at Mercy for the generous use of their wonderful space.
Happily, most of our cats living there have been adopted. Only three still
need a home: Jenny, Sugar, and Priscilla.
New facilities and programs
Our shelter director Wendy is now redirecting her efforts into a
spay/neuter/release program for feral cats. Thanks to generous
contributions from the Johnsons and Teddy Pilalas, Wendy has opened
a new shelter annex space. This new space will be used as a
temporary holding area for feral cats awaiting and recovering from
surgery. But the primary use of the annex is a nursery for kittens
awaiting homes. Wendy dedicated the kitty nursery to the memory
of Pamela Bratsos Armstrong with a lovely plaque.
We do hope to find a space for a permanent, full service shelter
in the future.
2004 Pamela Bratsos Memorial Scholarship
Al Lavoie was the 2004 recipient of the Pamela Bratsos Memorial
Scholarship. Al was accepted to participate as a member of the
Massachusetts People to People Ambassador Program to France and
Italy. Congratulations Al, Pam would be very proud of you!
Update on Juju
Juju has had the surgery to amputate her leg. Juju is a great
little cat and she is now ready for a permanent home. Please call
Wendy at Cat Haven to adopt Juju -- (781) 834 - 4355.
Juju has been adopted!
John Paul Sullivan and the Lakotas
After his delivery to the Lakota Reservation in January, John Paul
Sullivan has taken a long deserved vacation in Florida. JP has been
making the long treks with truckloads of supplies for the Dakota tribes
for over ten years. Thank you JP Sullivan for the years of service.
Fundraising Events
Tricia O'Leary manned a table at the Temple in Randolph, MA to benefit
Sheltara Human Society. And Laurel Sandman manned a table at the Randolph
High School flea market, also to benefit Sheltara Humane Society.
Much appreciation to all the folks that donated items for Sheltara to
sell at these and other tag sales.
