2006 Pamela Bratsos Armstrong Memorial Scholarship
Rose Ann Nearen Almonacid was awarded the 2006 Pamela Bratsos Armstrong Memorial Scholarship presented by Sheltara Humane Society. Rose Ann is an Honors Student. Her efforts on behalf of animals has included adopting dogs and the rescue of an abused feral cat. Rose Ann will be attending Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island.
Critter Quilts

Aldona and Greybeard display the blankets headed for "Critter Quilts" in New York. In her spare time, Aldona crochets blankets to be used for the dogs and cats in the New York City pound. Unfortunately most of the pound animals are held awaiting euthanasia. These blankets will make their last hours on earth in the wire cages more comfortable. The "Critter Quilts" organization will accept any blankets or quilts...but easy wash fabrics are preferred.
Adella (Aldona's twin) also participated in the Critter Quilt program.
Here she is with her quilts and friends "Smallie" (on lap) and "Poodleena"

Medical problems: The Chronic Care Unit
Smokey has been having some medical problems this year.
So Sheltara Humane Society has been helping out with his
expensive vet bills.
Sugar is elderly and has re-occurring urinary tract problems.
Joanie W is kind enough to lend a hand with the sponsorship of Sugar.
Poor Juju is all grown up now...but back at the doctors again. Sheltara is helping her adoptive family pay the expensive vet bills.
In Memorial
Our friend Roberta Arlene Keese
Founder and President of the Hilltop Humane Society in Randolph, MA.
"Roberta worked hard in her pursuit of saving and caring for animals. Her devotion knew no boundaries whether she was helping a mouse, squirrel, cat or any other animal. She loved all God's creatures. She also loved and appreciated all of her friends, whether they helped her in her life-long devotion to animals or strived on her behalf to make her life a little easier and help her overcome the pain she endured."

I adopted "Mittens" aka "Badger" on 12/11/05 just
wanted to let you know that she
is doing wonderful and has been recently spayed.
I know when I adopted her that when she got spayed that I
could recoup some of the adoption fee. I would like you to
use it to help other cats in need and want you to know that I
got the most wonderful cat from you. I have attached the paperwork
that I have recieved from both you and the spay waggin.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Linda P
Chloe is a new special needs kitty.
Chloe is a grey and white spayed female.
She is about 2 years old and rather shy.
Chloe is a special needs kitty.
She was an injured stray (she had blunt trauma to the right
side of her face) but she loves attention.
She has had a medical and dental exam.
Chloe is fine, but her injury has left her with a "winky" eye.
(one eye winks) Chloe is a sweet heart and quickly coming out of her
shell and into her own personality.
Hello -
This is Cheryl C. I adopted Snowball last October.
Just dropping a note to let you know he is still beautiful,
and doing wonderfully in our home. We recently adopted an
American Eskimo puppy as well. They are both white, a year
apart in age and getting along wonderfully. My son, now 3,
is in Heaven with his new "siblings"!!
I gave my name to a cashier in Stop and Shop who I have seen
frequently. She was looking to adopt a cat/kitten.
I hope she contacted you. I gave her all your info and my name.
I really hope she has gotten through to you. She'd make a great
"Mom" to one of the babies out there!
I was just trying to upload a cute pic I have of
Snowball, Buddy & Joey. But my skills are somewhat
inadequate with my new digital camera.
As soon as I figure this all out,
I'll email you a picture to have to show for
the Sheltera Humane Society.
Hope all is well!
Hugs from,
Cheryl, Joey & Snowball
